How the scores work

The short version

Both numbers in LevelHeaded are simple arithmetic on the answers you give. They are self-report reflection tools written in-house. They are not clinical instruments, they have not been validated against any psychological measure, and they do not assess, screen for, or diagnose any condition.

The reaction quiz

The quiz has 10 questions. Each answer is worth 1 to 4 points, where 1 describes the calmest response and 4 the most intense. Your total is the sum, so the range is 10 to 40. The total maps to one of four descriptive patterns:

• 10–17 — Slow Burner
• 18–25 — Reactor
• 26–33 — Pressure Cooker
• 34–40 — Crash-Out

The band names are descriptive labels for a pattern of self-reported reactions on the day you took the quiz. They are not personality types, severity ratings, or clinical categories. Answer differently tomorrow and you will land in a different band — that is expected, not an error.

The daily Control Score

The Control Score starts at 50 and moves each time you complete a daily check-in. You rate mood, energy, and stress from 1 to 5. The daily change is:

change = (mood - 3) x 2
       + (energy - 3)
       - (stress - 3) x 2
       + 1

new score = clamp(previous score + change, 0, 100)

The +1 means that showing up at all nudges the score up slightly, even on a flat day. The score is capped at 0 and 100. It measures nothing except the ratings you entered and how consistently you entered them.

Streaks

A streak counts consecutive calendar days with a check-in, in your local time. Checking in twice in one day does not increase it. Filling in a day you missed in the past never reduces it. A gap of more than one day resets it to 1.

What these numbers are not

Not a diagnosis, not a risk assessment, not a measure of anger, and not evidence of anything in a legal, medical, employment, or custody context. If you are worried about your reactions or your safety, or someone else's, speak to a licensed professional or see crisis resources.

Changes to scoring

If the questions, weights, or bands change, the version number at the top of this page changes with them and the change is announced in-app. Past results are not retroactively rescored.
